| Moved into a new home in April and have the following weeds growing in my Bermuda lawn. I am in San Antonio, TX and I believe the one of the left is crabgrass, not sure on the right.
I have tried spectracide weed stop but it doesnt seem to do much and am afraid to put too much out since it is consistently hot here and not sure if it will burn the grass. Can anyone recommend a good post-emergent to kill either of these? I am thinking ahead to pre-emergents for this stuff next season and have heard good things about Dimension 2EW formula. However, I can only seem to find large liquid quantities available (1/2 gallon for $125+) but I only have about 2000sq ft of grass and not sure if it is worth it to buy this much, anyone have any feedback on this product and its shelf life? I am willing to buy it if it will last for many seasons without going bad. Are there any other products that contain dimension that I could look into? Thanks for any help. |

| I think the one on the right is spotted spurge. I'm having the same problem now. The spurge is getting out of control, the crabgrass is still easy for me to pull by hand. I bought my home this May and the bermuda was in horrible condition. It's growing back but now the spurge is growing as well. I spot treated some spurge with Ortho Weed spray and it killed the spurge but yellowed the grass. I'm in Atlanta and the temps were in high 80's when I used the Ortho spray. Temps down in the low 80's this weekend so I'll try it again. Also got Vigoro Ultra weed and feed hose sprayer and trying this weekend. Not sure if this is worth the time because my neighbors lot is 50% spurge. the only lawn care they do is mow once a month. |

| The plant on the left looks similar to Johnsongrass, and the one on the right could be spurge, or it could be mimosa weed. |

| Thanks for the replies. a higher dose of Spectracide seemed to kill the weed on the right but did slightly discolor the lawn around it which I wasnt happy about but oh well. The one on the left didnt even blink. I hand pick these out since it is only in one corner of the yard right now but they grow back VERY fast. I am guessing I am going to have to dig them out to get the root because they just wont go away! |

| Find a lesco or john deere landscape in san Antonio near you. I believe there are four there. Ask for a 0-0-7 with dimension in it. It is a 40 or 50 lb bag for around 25.00. I am getting ready to drop my pre-emergent around Sept 15th |

| Update on the spurge. I used the Vigoro weed hose sprayer on a small area and it killed the spurge but yellowed the bermuda grass. The grass is green now but the spurge is back. The test area is next to my neighbor's spurge lawn. I went to John Deere landscape and they had Dimension but it was too expensive. They recommended the Lesco 19-0-6 .16% Dimension. $36 for a 50lb bag. Put that down this weekend. The granules were sitting on top of the grass so I used the hose to spray them in. I missed one small area and it burned the grass so I guess watering it down is important. I used Ortho to spot treat the spurge that is there now. Online I found a few other products with Dithiopyr but I couldn't find them in my local stores. This is my first lawn so let me know if I need to do anything else. |
