Guess I'm not the first "Witty Gal" who's lurched around the yard hand-pulling purslane and creating curse-rhymes???

Thought not. I'm just sayin'.........

RE: Purslane, my Bane

I've pulled up a ton of that, and Spurge, and grassy weeds over the past 2 months on a thinned out area I was prepping to overseed. I finally eliminated practically all the weeds that were germinating from seeds on the surface. I overseeded Friday, and it's still virtually weed free, but I'm watering all the time now, and waiting for the grass to actually germinate. Most people would probably have sprayed ROundup and started from scratch, but I believe that leaving some existing grass helps the turf to bounce back sooner and fuller. I did spray some areas a few weeks ago with chickweed and oxalis killer beacuse I was sick of hand pulling though. And then we mowed it really short, core aerated the hell out of the area, let it dry out a few days in the sun without water, then verticut, and planted the seed.

So far so good...slain is the purslane, and purged is the spurge.
