It is just too hot and dry. You are not getting enough water down and it went dormant or worse died. Is it tan or gray? Tan is dormant, Gray is dead.

You need to SOAK then several light watering per day to keep it soaked. In the mean time pray for cooler wetter weather.

Oh dear! It is tan but really doesn't look good at all. I have been soaking it but all the areas that are in full sun are really tan. The shady areas are green. If it did go dormant, when can I expect it to green up? Just after it gets enough water? Or if it goes dormant is it done?? Thanks for your help.

Go lift up the edge of one of the brown pieces. You should see tiny white roots from the sod working down into the soil. That'll tell you it is alive and well.

Water enough to keep the soil under the sod wet, and it will recover.

Unfortunately while the sod in the shade might look good it's not very tolerant of shade.

Probable should have been watering six times a day
