Crabgrass Baking Soda & Bermuda

Anyone have experience with using baking soda to eliminate crabgrass and Alexander grass ? Our rep from TruGreen suggested it and I'd like to give it a shot.

I live in Central Fla if that makes a difference.

A few questions ..

1) Baking soda safe for bermuda ?
2) Best way to apply - sprayer, sprinkle on, etc
3) If and when crabgrass dies and dries up, do I need to pull it out at the roots ?

Thanks in advance ...

1. My understanding is bermuda dies back from baking soda. It might be a short term effect, though, so you might try it.

2. The only way I know to apply it is dry onto dampened grass. It is explained very clearly in the video at this link.

3. After it dies you don't have to do anything. Let the bermuda fill in.

How are you maintaining your Bermuda grass?
How often do you mow and at what height?
How often do you water, and how much?
How often do you fertilize, with what, and what rate?
Is this a new lawn?

Mowing at 1.5" twice a week ... irrigation system turned off right now due to daily afternoon rains in Florida. TruGreen handles the fertilization and it is not a new lawn. Except for the Alexander and crabgrass, the lawn looks pretty good. It's really hard to find a Bermuda grass expert here in Florida despite all of the golf courses.
Same with a reel mower guy ...

Just wanted to add something about the crabgrass ... both crabgrass and Alexander grass seem to thrive in only a couple areas in my yard. Both of those areas are partially shaded ... my Bermuda lawn is also a bit thin in those areas.

The rest of my yard in full sunlight for the whole day does not contain any of the undesirable grasses and the lawn looks great.
Should I be mowing more often and clipping off a bit more at the time to bring the grass length shorter ?

In the hottest time of year you can let the bermuda get up to 1.5 inches.
