skunks digging up lawn in big chunks! - help!

I have had this in the past and I understand they are looking for grubs. This summer I noticed up in the mowed field above my house that there was a little bit of this but didn't care. About a week ago I realized I had moles in part of front lawn (again grubs, right?) I did what I have done in past - took hose and flooded tunnels but poking the nozzle through - worke in the past. This morning all over my lawn (although not where the tunnels were, actually) there are chunks torn up - maybe 30+ of them and the lawn isn't that big! Questions are: is this the time to spray for grubs? How Question is how can I keep skunks off front lawn until I get rid of grubs? Radio? Lights? Amonia? Other? Thanks!

It is a good time to put grub control down, possibly even a little too late. Another option is to buy the 24hr. grub control product to kill everything that's there now.

One option to keep them off, is to buy a motion sensor sprinkler. They sell them on amazon for a reasonable price. Put it in the yard, turn the hose on, and when the skunk comes the sprinkler goes on and sprays them and will go back off till the next one.

Those motion sprinklers don't seem to do a thing to the skunk that raids my yard every night looking for things to eat, I can't use any thing for grubs because of the dog, she has her nose into every thing and I'm afraid she might eat the stuff. I'm between a rock and a hard place when it comes to skunks

According to Cornell, now is the time to use beneficial nematodes against grubs in the northern climes. Beneficial nematodes are available here. They work by bringing a bacterial disease to the grub population. The disease is harmless to mammals, birds, reptiles, toads, and other higher forms of life but fatal to the grubs and many other insects (fleas and ticks for example).

When you apply BN, the soil must be moist and you should water them in heavily. The nematodes move around on a film of water so once the soil dries out, they are stuck.
