What kind of weed is this?!

Hello! I'm trying to identify this weed for my father-in-law. He has property in north central Texas, near farms and ranch land. I think it might be some form of crabgrass, but the red stems are throwing me off. See pic. It grows in his lawn and is killing all the grass. Any ideas? Much appreciated!

I believe it is common chickweed. It usually burns of during summer. Did you pull it from a shady or damp spot?

Apundt-tx, thanks. Not a damp or shady spot. Middle of the lawn, no shade or cover. There are spots like this all over the yard. And as you can tell from the second photo, the lawn is dead and patchy from this... Lawndivot12 thank you. I'll look up Purslane and chickweed. In either case, what is the best treatment?

It is Purslane aka Spurge and Spotted Spurge. It is a spice used in Indian Curries. To control it do not let it go to seed, pull it up before it flowers.

Ortho, also says weed-b-gon will kill purslane, especially if your lawn if full of the weed, pulling would be impractical.
