I think it should recover just fine. Maybe not look totally 100% by the end of the season, but I doubt it is any more stressed than if it were scalped with a mower, and we all know Bermuda can survive that. That's basically what they did. They scalped all the green leaves.

Since it sounds that watering isn't a problem, I'd fertilize to help it out. Maybe raise the mower cutting height. Do whatever you can to help it get some leaf surface back.

And for the weeds, I'm not sure.

I'm inclined to say tough it out and deal with it next spring.

Nurse your Bermuda back to health, and let proper cultural practices take out what weeds it can and then reassess.

Just one opinion, though. I understand weeds are tough to look at and you want to make a move.

Thanks for the follow up,I've sprayed about two acres for the insects and crossed my fingers. Is it too late here in SC to do some overseeding ?

Yeah, probably a little late, but also unnecessary.

If you take good care of your bermuda, it should repair itself. Give it time, water, fertilizer, and proper mowing. It'll fix.

What product did you use to spray for the insects?

What part of S.C. are you located? Makes a difference if you are in the Upstate, Midlands, Piedmont, or Low Country.

Do you know what type of bermuda you have? Is it a hybrid, such as Tifway 419, or a seeded variety?

Midlands area can't remember liquid insecticide name but followed up with spectracide granules for ants. Grass was seeded mix of Sahara and yukon.
