Contractor applied seed and weed and feed fertilizer same time

Hi All,

Contractors accidentially applied grass seed and fertilizer to some bare spots in my lawn. It would be ok if it was starter fertilizer, but it was large granule fertilizer, I think a weed and feed type. Since new grass seed will not germinate with fertilizer applied at the same time (unless it's starter) no seed germinated after two full weeks of daily watering. I'm trying to flush out the fertilzer to re-seed those areas. How long should I wait and how much flushing out of the fertilizer is required until I try again with new seed? I'm in VA and intend to use a tall fescue and blue grass mix. This is a new development and sod was installed last year. Several bare patches have been problematic since move in. Only want to seed these areas, but want them to germinate but don't want the excess fertilizer to prevent success. Thanks for your suggestions.
