New Fescue Sod

We moved in Mid June of this year. I'm afraid I over watered the first few weeks. Since then I have backed off to limit my watering to once a day for 20 minutes. However I am seeing now improvement. I'm in NC and the temp's during the day are 90 plus. The 1/2 of the yard in the worst shape has sun all day long. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

So far all I have done is apply 1 small bag of Ironite to the entire yard. I did that at the beginning of July.

Thanks!

It's probably brown patch, a common foliar disease of TTTF caused by a fungus. You are going to have to hope it didn't kill your crowns, but you won't know that till cooler weather comes. You can treat the rest of your lawn with fungicide to prevent further disease.

When was the sod put down? Because once a day for 20 minutes is still considered over watering unless you are transitioning out of a recent (July) sod job. If this is a month old, it should be getting 1 inch of water per week applied a max of twice per week. You can measure your water system's out put with tuna or cat food cans. For some systems, 20 minutes is one inch. If that is your system, then you are applying 7 inches of water per week.

What is under the sod? If not disease, that looks like it may be cooked.

Thanks for the responses....the yard is definetly struggling... I'm afraid to look underneath in fear of what I may find...I think the builder in our neighborhood is going to replace some if not all of the sod. If they don't I'm not sure what I will do. For now I am going to back off watering - every other day for 15 min, invest in some fungicide and pray that in the Fall I can fertilize/seed with good results. I will update this post again with more pics once I gather the courage to look underneath.
