| I live in southwest Colorado, heavy clay soil. I was planning on aerating and fertilizing in the fall, late Sept. Is there any reason not to do it now as the problem areas could really use some help? Not sure if there is a specific value to a fall application.
Thanks, John |

| Addition: We have irrigation water which will be shut down Oct. 15, if that is relevant. Thanks, John |

| You should be fine, make sure you get your spikes to go as deep as possible and fertilize immediately after. You can mow the plugs within a week of aerating to add back the nutrients that you've pulled out. Remeber to water thoroughly as well, get the fertilizer deep into the root system. |

| Yes. Anytime now should be fine to aerate assuming the summer heat/stress has moved on. Make sure the soil is at a good moisture level before aerating, though. The soil should crumble in your hands. Just curious, what type of grass do you have? Fertilizing cool season grass in the fall is very important. If my memory serves me, 1x around Labor Day and 1x November. Warm season is different. |

| Agreed. Twice in the fall. Start on Labor Day. You should apply 3/4 to 2/3 of your total nitrogen to cool season grasses in the fall. |
