wire grass

I read somewhere that if you kept pulling up wire grass, eventually it would die. Is that really possible? Others say pulling it up just makes it divide and conquer. What is the best way to control wire grass?

What you call Wire Grass is really Bermuda, and no pulling it up will not kill it.

Bayer makes a hose end spray that says it controls bermuda grass in fescue lawns.

I can tell you from experience that Roundup Extended control will kill most of it but you probably need a 2nd or 3rd application to get it all. Of course Roundup kills everything else....

And unless you kill the ENTIRE source, any bermuda left alive will creep back in. Very agravating, I've found sprigs 10 feet into my fescue lawn

Thanks. It's in the hood. I doubt that I can keep it out since it is on both sides, the lot behind and across the street.
