| quick question. I laid around 225 yards of tifway on June 1st. June was rough here, 100* temps and absolutely no rain all month. water bill was high but the sod survived and we have had ample rain (nearly a foot) in the last month. we had a big storm today that dropped 2" of rain and knocked down a lot of branches in my yard. as I was picking the limbs and branches up I noticed some of the sod pieces still had noticeable seams in between them. I leaned down and grabbed a piece and it easily lifted up. there were absolutely zero roots underneath the slab. I'm not even sure how that's possible with the rain we've had. the pieces in question (probably 10 yards total) haven't rooted at all.
I follow the bermuda bible and mow mostly with a reel at 1.5". what do I need to do to encourage some root growth with this section before fall arrives? I'm very surprised by the total absence of roots.....seeing as how I have mowed this section probably 20 times since it was put down. |

| Were you watering 3x per day for about 10-15 minutes from June 1st through June 21st? Was the sod rolled down? How was the soil prepared before putting the sod down? |
|
| yes, I watered 3x per day for short periods. maybe even a little more than that because of the dry hot weather sod was rolled. twice soil was scratched and then drug with a mat before sod was put down |

| If it is green don't worry about it. What you can do is top dress with some good quality top soil or peat, not peat moss, PEAT. |
