When the fescue is 3" tall, the KGB will likely have germinated. Or at least most of it will have. It will take more than a month for the fescue to reach 3" tall.

You can put down starter fertilizer at any time. It won't hurt the grass. I usually put it down with the seed. The only thing about fertilizer you need to be concerned with is not to put down fertilizer that has weed control. Depending on the particular weed control, it will either prevent the seeds from germinating or harm the young grass.

It's a good idea to lightly cover the seed with dirt, top soil or compost. It helps keep the seed wet and helps keep the seeds in place.

In my research into the genetics of TF and PR, I came across the fact that the two are closely related...to the point that many botonists believe the genus for TF should be reassigned as Lolium, that of PR.

Now, which grass, TTTF, or TTPR, has more of a chance of clumping? I've heard this about both of them, and I've witnessed it with PR that has partially died off during hot summers, but I've never really had much TF until the most recent (in progress) seeding project. i've heard that TF often clumps when it thins out, but it's not any mroe clumpy than PR, is it? If anything, I'd think it would be less clumps since it has rhizomes.

Also: how bad is the traffic (mower, spreader, foot) going to be for the seedlings? Would it kill it???
