Removing Many Small Roots

Dudon

Hi Guys,

I'm currently getting ready to seed a new lawn. The lot is 1 acre in size, and was originally full of 10 year old sapling growth.

We've cleared the lot, stumped, and graded. What we're left with is some very nice soil, along with literally hundreds of tiny roots that are lying around and sticking up everywhere.

See image here: http://postimg.org/image/gpg1z71el/

My initial reaction was to take an ax to them, but that could literally take a day or more...

Then I thought that I could bush hog them with a new holland tractor that a family member has, but I'm not really sure if that would work, or if it would actually get low enough to get the roots.

Does anyone here have any thoughts on what I might be able to do? I'd like to take care of the roots before I plant the grass seed, as I don't really want to be hitting them with my mower next year...

Thanks!
