Could this really be!!!!!! Opinion needed

So last week was slice seeding over my scalped KBG lawn...day August 30, 2013 at approx. 0930 Am. Today I noticed a few new sprouts in the shaded areas. I thought maybe this is just new shoots from the existing KBG. But then I went to my little brown clay dish that I sprinkled some seed into that I had inside by the kitchen window and found sprouts too. Is it normal for a mixture of moonlight, blueberry and midnight KBG blend to germinate so quickly? Seven days and a few hours? Temps here have been high 60's at night and mid to upper 80's during the day. No rain in almost two weeks. Just my irrigation system. Guess I really need to be careful now when I use the reel mower to cut back the old KBG that is growing fast do to the extra watering. Any recommendations?

It looks like you're getting some early bloomers, but they are scarce still. I overseeded with tall fescue on Labor Day and I'm not too far from you in Louisville, KY. Soil temps are still reaching up into the 80's during the day, so it's plausible that you are getting some quicker germination than you would see if you waited until late September. If you have an irrigation system (I have one I pieced together above ground) with timers and the whole nine, then you have very warm soil and good moisture content. So, it's possible you are getting some early germination, but 90% of your germination is likely still at least a week away.

Yes, it is possible. The warm soil tempeeratures from the summer enhances germination dramatically. 7 days is the fastest KBG will germinate under ideal conditions, anything faster than that and you'd be looking at Poa Annua.

I called those fast germinating seeds Super Achievers!
