Lawn going dormant.... now?!?!?

Endured the blistering summer yet the grass stayed green and lush... we've gotten a break on the heat and the lawn was last fertilized in early July... has been watered properly and cut @ 3" every 3-4 days.

Within the last week it has stopped growing, several areas tinted tan and appears to be thinning... neighbor's lawns are doing the same thing. Does the grass think it's winter?

In order to help diagnose the problem these couple of questions should help us.

What type of grass do you have?
What are the temperatures?
By watered properly, does that mean early morning?

Honestly, I doubt it's the temperatures. My TTTF stays mostly green until the snow sets in.

Try pulling up on it. if the lawn looks drought stressed or going dormant when conditions are ripe, you should consider grubs or a disease process going on.

Lawn is KBG... last fertilization in early July with Scott's Step 3... was lush/green and perfect until last week when temps went from 90-100f to 50-60f... now it looks dormant.

Plenty of water, nothing changed but ambient temps. Should I put the Scott's step 4 down now or wait?

I trimmed it back to 2.5" as it was aerated the other day (this problem begun prior to aeration)
