I can tell you that you have to provide your watering schedule to any post like this. It is the first thing one of the experts will ask. How often do you water, for how long? In ground system or oscillator, etc.?

Fair enough. The watering schedule is not great. It has been raining some (read: I think the advised 1"). When it has not rained, I haven not done anything, which I know I should have.

The rest of the lawn seems to be doing alright, but the patches, such as in the picture, are my concern. They are not everywhere but only in the area. And the dog pees everywhere, not just there. I figured something must be going on, so I posted.

What other info is needed for some forum diagnosis and prescription?

OK since I'm no expert I won't post any more than this last one. How about:

1. Is it a new or established lawn?
2. Are there any drainage problems where the dead spots are?
3. What is your neighbor across the street doing that you aren't?

1. Established. It has been okay in the past.
2. Not that I'm aware of
3. Paying a service lots of dollars every month. She doesn't even mow it herself. I don't know, but I think she has a different kind of grass too, not that it matters a ton.

Could this be a thatch issue?
