meyers zoysia shade tolerance

My builder told me I was getting tifgrand and emerald zoysia. I've had problems with the tifgrand in the front yard and zoysia in the back.

Called the supplier to verify care instructions to find out what they actually purchased was celebration and meyers zoysia.

Backyard is surrounded by woods, not a lot of hours direct sunlight, probably about 4-6 at the most. Zoysia is green, but not actively growing. Is zoysia just that slow? Never had it before.

Sod was installed on June 4th. I've cut my grass once the whole summer, haven't needed too. Celebration looks half dormant, with some green.

My lawn maintenance company thinks that the celebration was just cut too early and was overly shocked from transplant and should grow in next year. But, he said Meyers really isn't the best choice for a lawn surrounded by trees. Different zoysias would work better.

How much of hissy fit should I raise about this with my builder & landscaper about using Meyer's Zoysia and not a more shade tolerant variety?
