Grasss is coming up nicely- seeded about three weeks ago. I do have weeds mostly spurge, I killed everything off with roundup but of course the seeds are still there. I have mowed and it seems to help but I afraid it will take over. How long before I can spray? I have Certainty and Manor or is weed B Gone better? Or should I just keep mowing and spray next year?

Spray next year, if it survives the winter. You planted pretty late. Does it freeze where you are? I planted bermuda on labor day a couple of years ago and lost it all to winter freeze.

It was late but I had the seed so went ahead. It freezes here of course but not every night and maybe not even each week. We still have at least 1.5 mos till first frost at least and it is already up pretty good. More worried about the weeds than frost. I think you are a full zone colder than me so that probably makes a difference.

When the grass is good and dormant (after a couple of freezes), go out and hit anything green with round-up. Don't forget to put down pre-emergents in the spring and you should be good next year. I also do a pre-emergent in the summer and fall and not one weed in the lawn.

If your lawn isn't established for at least 100 days before 1st frost it is in danger . |

"If your lawn isn't established for at least 100 days before 1st frost it is in danger." I'm guessing that that is a warm grass proviso.

Applies to warm grass, yes

Really wasn't asking about winter kill, thanks to those of you who offered some actual advice instead of being in nanny mode.
