Is there a type of grass that would grow under cedars? Or am I just wasting my time looking for a type of grass that would grow in dense shade and dry soil? THank you.

Nothing that you would want to grow will grow in dense, dry shade.

Why is it dry? If you can water there, you could try using something like Shadow Turf. It is a variety of zoysia that does well in deep shade.
