| Hello all,
I have this weed in my lawn. Never had it before. Looks like nutsedge to me but I am wondering that others think it is Anyone have any ideas? I am in SE Michigan Thanks to all who respond |

| Yes it is sedge. Could be nutsedge or green kyllinga. If it is new you might be able to dig it out. Dig about a foot deep, pull all the soil out and put it in a bucket. Do your best to break the roots of the sedge away from the soil and discard. Nutgrass has nodules in the roots. You need to get all those out. Then let the soil dry for a day. Then look again to see if you have all the nuts out. If you think so, then return the soil and watch it for new growth. At the first sign of new growth, repeat the process of digging out the nodules/nuts. I'm curious as to the situation. Nutgrass is a swamp grass while green kyllinga seems to like drought. What is your watering like in that spot? How long, how often? Do you ever get standing water there? Have you ever rototilled that area? What is your soil like? |
