| I've been feeding our tall fescue Milorganite (5-2-0) for about 1 year with 5 applications. I've always applied at the rate shown on the bag or the Milorganite website (36 lbs per 2500 sq. ft). I've had moderate success with it so far.
I'm beginning to think I'm not applying enough Milorganite. How much do you apply and when? I'm also beginning to think I should use Milorganite just for the summer and synthetic fertilizer for the other applications. What do you think of a Milorganite/Synthetic fertilizer program? Thanks. |

| That's interesting. Ive just started using it and i intend to use it for the summer months. I put some down in July and August and i think it really helped my grass turn that dark green and keep it healthy over the hot NJ sumemr. In my opinion its good to keep putting it down to add some organics to the soil but i think in fall, before the first frost and early spring the grass needs some synthetics as well. just my 2 cents. |

| I started using organic fertilizers this year after renovating 2500 sqft in the fall of 2010. I started out in March with a bag of milorganite. I then alternated between 50 lbs of Alfalfa pellets and milorganite each month thereafter with an extra bag of cracked corn meal thrown in. Knowing that organics have about a 3 week delay in impact I doubled up in Aug knowing Sept is a higher feeding time for TTTF. During Aug I applied a bag of milorganite, 20 lbs Alfalfa pellets, 50 lbs cracked corn and 50 lbs of SBM. In Sept so far I have applied a bag of milorganite. I am going to apply extra organics in Sept and Oct but may also apply a low half rate of synthetic fertilizer later this month given that fall is the time when TTTF needs most of its N. I think I have had good success. I have read a lot of forum posts on numerous forums about organics and my take aways from them were to apply often and to mix it up. |

| Only apply Milorganite on days with names ending in the letter Y. |
