Best way to get rid of sod from an above ground pool install

Greetings. We had an above ground pool installed this past summer, and we have the sod from the 15x30 ground scrape piled in a low corner of the yard. I need about a foot of clean fill there, and was wondering if I could have the "sod" roto tilled into the ground or if I should have the "sod" removed and clean fill brought in and spread. The sod was largely zoyzia grass, which I really do not mind as it is very durable and resistant to everything and needs very little in the way of fertilizer, watering etc. Thanks!

Keep it! Don't even rototill it. Just flip it as best you can so it's soil side up and put however much fill you'll still need over it.

Six years ago, we stripped up our whole back lawn soon after we moved here. The grading was bad and it had to be redone. The guy who was doing the work had estimated $600 to dispose of it, so I had him move it to the back of the property and I flagged out a berm area. That berm is the best soil we have anywhere -- all that decomposed grass and roots mixed into the soil...digging in it is effortless. Definitely keep the sod!

Thanks for the tip. Just laying out flat is much less work than tilling etc. I can cut into manageable size blocks.
