| Neither my husband nor I were even considering the problem of maintaining an empty lot. We thought that we bought the land, and that's all.
It turned out we had to spend hundreds of dollars to have someone who had bushhawk with the mowing equipment to mow the land. How can we maintain it without having many weeds grow or at least just preventing the hardwood bush weeds or trees from growing??? I am thinking of spread pre-mergent at early October, yet I am not sure how effective for maintaining the empty land. Please advise. Thanks |

| From how you put your message....I take it you have bought an empty lot and find out that it has lots of weeds that you are responsible for seeing they don't encroach on neighbors and/or don't grow so high to be an unsightly mess to the neighborhood. Howcum I have no sympathy for you....you bought the property to do something with I take it....and the weeds are taking over. High weeds breed insects and may contain noxious types that people find their allergies acting up and can make a neighborhood look too country. Thank your lucky stars you have laws that control such nuisances. |

| What is your situation? Do you have neighbors who tend their lots? Is it residential and you're the only one not taking care? How big is the lot? How far from other homes? I have an acre with a home near the Texas desert. All the lots are the same. I have half in lawn and the rest is wild. My neighbor offered to mow it for $20 so I went for it. In this drought nothing has grown back although a recent inch of rain has done wonders for some weeds. Depending on where the lot is, there are some pasture grasses that don't look terrible when they are mowed down short. Many don't take much water. |
