Just noticed today that I am getting some moss on my seedbed? We had a decent rain last night and I have been keeping my seedbed wet for germination purposes. My seedlings are just starting to come up (Tall Fescue) will the moss go away eventually?

I have a few spots on the north side of my home where moss is a problem. I got some moss killer granules from HD and sprinkled them on it and it killed off the moss. I then raked it out. I would let it be for now until your grass gets established, it it is still there next spring, kill it off and rake it out. You may want to get a soil test to see if you need to add lime or something.

Ok cool I added lime with my starter fert so I think overall I'll end up ok. Thanks!

Don't knee-jerk so quickly. It probably wasn't moss. On bare soil that is wet, algae or cyanobacteria will colonize the soil for a bit. Mostly harmless and fleeting. Now, putting lime and fertilizer together caused a reaction that made some of the fertilizer gas-off. And lime directly on new seeds is not good - it causes an alkaline environment at the immediate soil surface. Slow down and let Mother Nature work.
