tttf vs kbg

Hi folks, I have been losing the battle in the POA Vs KBG war during the last 5 years. Last month, I paid a reputable lawn care service to kill it all and replant some new stuff. Today my lawn is brown and the lawn care service instructed me to cut the brown grass short and getting ready to turn on my sprinkler system once again. One Monday they will fill in some low spots in the front and side to help improve drainage and then the new seed will be slit seeded in. However, before Monday I need to make a final decision concerning grass seed. So I'm asking for your opinion. Would you go TTTF or KYB grass. Both would be premium grade.

I dont want to battle POA grass again..but Im not sure the TTTF is POA resistant. Does anyone here know? Anyone have recommendations?

For some reason the last line of my text above got corrupted. I should have also stated above that the lawn 14 yrs ago was KBG sod. The sod held up for 9 or so yrs before the POA kicked in and destroyed it

While we wait for those more experienced than I to reply, here are my general thoughts.

Every landscaper, turf manager, turf scientist, lawn hobbiest, and weekend warrior has his or her species he or she likes or doesn't like. I have heard every single species of cool season grass put down by someone in the last few months...TTTF, KBG, TTPR, etc. Reasons stated are typically susceptibility to fungus, Poa annua infestion, or other weed infestation. I've heard people say avoind TTF due to brown patch. I've heard others say avoid KBG due to certain fungus/mildew issues, etc, etc.

Bottom line: No grass is perfect. Not even close. But contemporary KBG, Tall Fescue, and Perennial Rye are superior to what was around 20 years ago. By far the worst grass I ever had was fine fescue. It was extremely prone to red thread, as well as burnout in the heat of summer. So fine fescue is the one I personally don't like...everyone's got a least favorite, but you have to take it with a grain of fertilizer. Modern TTTF and KBG are wonderful grasses. Not perfect, but still wonderful.
