does anyone have a close up pic of this grass emerging from soil. I've sown this seed a week ago and I have something coming up but doesn't look like a fescue grass (one stem)to me. Thanks. Pembroke

Tall fescue emerges as a single needle-like blade, often with a tint of red at the base. It will broaden as it matures, and tiller after you start mowing it.

If you look very closely at one of these single seedling blades, you will likely notice it is rolled, and has three veins on the front surface. As tall fescue matures, the number of veins increases. Looking at photos tiemco supplied in the past, it appears that modern TTTF blades have approx. 7 lateral veins, give or take, when mature. Older, coarse and weedy tall fescues may have blades so wide there are 20 or more of these veins.
