Early frost!

The weatherman just said that there's a possibility of our first frost tonight! It's usually about 2 weeks from now.
I just put down seed only 6 days ago. If there's a frost, does that mean nothing will germinate?
Please tell me that this isn't doomsday. I put so much work into this that I'll be forever discouraged. You only get one shot a year and I don't want to have to wait another year to get my lawn in place.

The frost itself is not Doomsday. But first frosts tend to be 3-4 weeks before the grass stops growing. The real question will be whether it can establish itself strongly enough to make it to Spring in that time.

If its a first frost out of the normal, trust that that is what it is...a quirk and the the seed will take normally.
Generally, the cool temperatures is what a lawn seed likes...cool ground, not cold, not dry, with late season rain and no competition from weeds which have gone dormant.
This is the actual best time to seed a lawn so your fears are best put on a back burner.

Bless you for the positive news. After spreading 14 yards of compost by hand, I would have been in a deep winter funk if all that work would have gone to waste.
