Agree, just hit the Fescue with Round Up when the Bermuda goes dormant this winter. Spray everything green in the lawn.

Thanks, tiemco and texas-weed. Wondering if there is a selective herbicide I can use instead of Roundup (glysophate). I've heard of problems - weather conditions making the bermuda not completely dormant and getting killed by the Roundup.

Hoping others can report their successes.

If your Bermuda is completely dormant Round-Up shouldn't affect it. Certainty is a more selective herbicide that is indicated in removing tall fescue from Bermuda.

Rosie spraying dormant Bermuda with RU is not a problem. To ensure success time it correctly by waiting a couple of days after an early season hard freeze. Where people get in trouble is waiting until late in the season after the winter weather starts to warm up. Typically the coldest time of year is late December and early January.

Oh man, I'm getting confused here.......no one's fault but my own.

I need to read the data sheets of glysophate and the one tiemco mentioned, Certainty, looking for the temps at which each can be applied and be effective. Will read and report. I really wish I could kill all of it and start fresh with something wonderful, but don't think that's feasible financially.

You can, but it cannot be done this season with Bermuda grass. It starts this winter when you kill off the Rye grass with RU. Then next spring you practice proper Bermuda Grass maintenance and the grass will rejuvenate and repair itself.
