Hello

Our front yard is in terrible shape -- it is very uneven and practically has no grass but rather full of weeds. I originally planned to have the yard dug up and reseed the whole thing with fresh grass seeds next year thinking its too late this year. However, just this past weekend we had an issue with our sewer line requiring us to replace a portion of the sewer pipe. They will have to excavate a 6-foot wide trench in our front yard in order to replace the pipe.

Does it make sense to have the whole yard excavated and do the reseeding at the same time? Is it too late in the season to even consider this? What other options do I have to capitalize on the fact that a portion of the yard will be getting dug up in the coming week or so?

I am a complete newbie to lawn care, so any advice/input that you helpful GW experts can give would be greatly appreciated.
