Crab Grass Galore

Hello,

I'm in need of some serious help.
My yard has been overrun by crabgrass and tall weeds where they never grew before since I had it 'graded', removed some overgrown shrubbery and an old metal shed.

I live in central Mass.

Please advise if this plan is ok, ridiculous, needs revision or other.
1. User roundup on the 3,200 sq ft and wait a week.
2. Aerate with multiple passes in different directions
3. Apply fertilizer and rake in.
4. Seed
a. hydroseed or
b. disc seed or
c. apply seed with a broadcast spreader
5. Apply a pre-emergent herbicide in the early spring.

Thanks for any help offered.
Barry

Barry:

It's getting kind of late for reseeding - you generally want six weeks to first frost, and I doubt you'll get that after you wait for the RU to kill the existing lawn.

The crabgrass will die with the first frost. Put down the Pre-M in the Spring when the Forsythia bloom in the Spring and fix your problems next year. The best time to seed is the second half of August until about now.
