There is a synthetic lawn in my neighborhood. When you just drive by, it looks like a real bermudagrass lawn. When you take a second look you realize something is odd, but it probably wouldn't occur to you that it is not real. What looks odd is that everything that lands on the yard stays on top. It never filters down...or never appears to filter down. And once you tell yourself it never needs maintenance, then you start to leave it alone and the leaves pile up on it. At least it needs to be blown once a week.

What are your restrictions? In San Antonio we can only water for 7 hours every other week, but we can hand water any day of the week. My community inside San Antonio allows soaker hoses any night of the week, but not in San Antonio proper.
What kind of grass do you have?
How big is your lawn?
What is your normal watering regimen when you don't have restrictions? (frequency and duration)

I live in the Dallas area. I can still hand water but I have no desire to stand in the yard and water for hours on end when it's 100+ degrees just to keep my grass a little green. I have bermuda grass. Everyone in my neighborhood has bermuda and there isn't a green yard anywhere. (I would think that green grass everywhere, even if synthetic, would look a lot better than street after street of brown yards, but that's just my opinion). Plus, my water bill could easily go over $500/month if I did that. (It really is amazing how expensive water is in my city). I also work and have 4 year old triplets so I stay fairly busy. I love the idea of a yard that would always be green with very minimal effort. My house is on a quarter acre. I have no idea if we will ever do this, I was just wondering if anyone on this board has any experience with it. I know it's very expensive to install and my fear is that it wouldn't last more than 5 or so years and would have to be replaced.
