| I was recently reading that you should not aerate around the time that crabgrass germinates. Of course I also read that you should aerate in late April just after full green up. So what do we think the best school of thought is for that?
Also, if I plan to put down pre-emergent on 3/1 and also sometime around 8 weeks later how should I time that with the aerating? Thanks for the help as always. |

| Aerating and pre-emergent are conflicting task. When you put down pre-emergent you are laying down a chemical barrier or shield on the ground. When you aerate you punch holes in that barrier and defeat it. So armed with that info you can only conclude to apply pre-emergent after you aerate. But ask yourself this. Why am I aerating my soil? There needs to be a sound reason to do so. Otherwise it is like taking medicine when you do not need it. More harm than good can come from it. |
