A seed growing on a seed growing on a seed.....
I've never heard that a lot of seed will deny growth because of excessive amounts.
It does offer the birds lots of food---if they catch on to it.
You could take a fan rake and go over the seeded area catching what seems to be too much when gathered together in areas but otherwise, I wouldn't be concerned.

Sprinkle normally to encourage germination and what seed doesn't make contact with soil will likely just die---or sit until pushed aside by growing grass.

Too much seed can lead to problems. Damping off is one issue that can surface at high rates. If all the seed germinates it will be thick and lush and so tightly packed together it might have trouble drying out, which can also lead to fungal disease spread. It's obviously too late now, but you can only hope none of the issues surface, but don't be surprised if they do.

It sounds like a lot of seed but there wasn't really any seeds on top of seeds. I could still see the soil. Let's just say there's a lot more seed per square inch then there should be. I'll just have to keep a close eye on it and see how it comes out. I'm thinking I may need to cut back on watering when it starts to come up and maybe keep it mowed a little shorter then normal to get it to dry out some.
