Alternative to Bermuda for shady areas
| | |
Posted by arickl 7 (My Page) on Thu, Oct 29, 09 at 11:26
| I have a large bermuda lawn, with several large trees which provide lots of shade. Needless to say, the bermuda does not do well under the trees. I'm looking for a recommendation of a grass that I can plant under the trees that is shade tolerant, but will co-exist with the bermuda. I do like the fact that the bermuda goes dormant during the winter, and would like this grass to do the same if possible. Any suggestions or recommendations? Thanks! |

| You might want to look at Zoysia grass. It goes dormant in winter, turning a light brown color. Here is a link for more info. http://pubs.caes.uga.edu/caespubs/pubcd/L395.htm |

| Hi, I live in 27517. Empire Zoysia, Celebration Bermuda and Centipede all have been recommended. I think I prefer seed vs sod, which may limit my options. Any thoughts? |
