KBG Overseed Maintenance

Ok GardenWeb experts - I'm in need of some help here.

I overseeded with KBG into a fairly established lawn about 3 weeks ago. I also put down some starter fert at the time of overseeding, watered regularly, and fertilized with Milorganite the weekend before labor day. I can see the KBG coming in on a few open dirt patches and the seedlings are about 1.5 inches but can't tell if the KBG is sprouting in the established grass. I know the germination process for KBG can be up to a month but I'm worried my overseed was a waste since I can't see any visible signs of the grass thickening. Am I just paranoid?

Also, I was hoping to mow this weekend. Of course I'll take the precautions to not turn the mower on the grass and will make straight passes, etc. Does anyone have any advice on the mowing height I should use and if I should mulch or bag? My existing grass is near 4.5/5 inches. I want to be sure that the new seedlings get the sunlight they need.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
