Can I feed my new grass from seed with Milorganite organic nitrogen fertilizer?

What kind of grass do you have, and we can get more specific to your situation?

Warm season grasses are winding down, but cool season grasses are ramping up and would probably benefit from the feeding.

You can use Milorganite, but on new seed, it's not really going to do much for it, but it's not going to hurt it either. I would use half an application of starter fertilizer in conjunction with Milorganite. Milorganite can basically be used anytime of the year since it's gentle, and slow acting. It will also add iron and organic matter to your soil, which is a good thing.

I don't get what it does for the new seed, but I saw starter fertilizer last week that is 30% milo.

Almost never should fertilizer (other than organic) be applied between late June and mid-August on cool season grasses.
