Temperatures will still remain too low in the soil for much growth, although it's now getting warm enough for root growth to start up just a little again.

Light levels, however, are at their nadir for the year, and daytime temperatures don't last long. It won't have any significant impact on your winterization.

Bit of a weather buffhere. Colder last few days of December on midatlantic up if possible, then few days warm up, then gfs/euro models suggest significant arctic air shift south, including much of east coast.

Most east coast (not south) weather pundits are mentioningJanuary 21 or so for a must-have pacific weather pattern change to allow east coast cold high impact storms or even recurrent medium storms for the remainder of winter.

It seems like the meteorologists are good at some things and terrible at others. "We will see" is the operative phrase here.
