I work for a major Canadian distributor and we see it too. Orders are way down. Here some of the trees are budding, if it turns into winter again they will get nailed.

We are having an unusual January thaw here in Wisconsin. There is still snow on the ground, but the snowmobile trails have been closed. Its supposed to be in the high 30's for about a week, predicted. But we still have February and March to go, so I remain optimistic.

Yep, the shops are selling chain saws now. Was out today, picked up a lawn tractor and delivered it to a neighbor, the snow is all gone, sunny and bright. The past weekend was melting the snow. BUT!!
Our WM is saying more snow is coming. RATS!!

RE: No Snow This Winter, repair Business Dead

I went to Home depot and they still had at least 20 snowblowers on the floor and the sales guy said they had another 30 in the back. I also noticed they have a $500 discount on their $1,800 blowers. It's a great time to buy a quality snowblower in the Toronto area. Last year guys were selling 35 year old snowblowers for around $800 and they were selling those suckers in a few hours.

RE: No Snow This Winter, repair Business Dead

This morning, here in W. PA., our local weather-man sez we're going to get some light snow (which we got last night), and cold temps. Did! Then he said the temp will go way up in a couple days, so we'd best get out the shades and sun-tan lotion! Sunny today, but cold! We call that guy the Liar down at the weather bureau! Fits him!

 o

Sounds like Canada is going to have to import snow for the Winter Olympics.

Well, here in W. Pa., it is now very cold, ground covered by 5 inches of snow, and the old Groundhog, Punxsatawney Phil, is ready to come out of his fancy "Burrow", see his shadow, and run back in, which will mean 6 more weeks of winter, in this area!
Those folks in Puny make a great show of Phil's prognostications about the weather! And, it is no wonder he sees his shadow! They set up many bright white lights, have a large stage set up, many college nuts having a big party, and gallons of brewskis' flowing into and out of the crowd.
Might i suggest you point your first finger to the side of yer head, point it , and turn it in a circle, which will give you an idea of the mentality of those who think groundhogs can tell the weather! Chuckling: Rusty J.
And, it got danged cold last night.

Walt, we will just have to hold surf board competitions on English Bay instead. Just finished one of the warmest Januarys on record. This after record snow fall last year. Somebody is playing games.

RE: No Snow This Winter, repair Business Dead

We did the -20 and below garbage three weeks ago---two weeks ago we did the rain covering in 3/4 inch of ice for the week now we're looking at snow starting again next week--just three inches for monday---havn't looked any farther, just don't want to! lol we just say here, "If you don't like the weather, just wait a bit, it'll get worse!"

 o
RE: No Snow This Winter, repair Business Dead

Here in VA we seldom get the dry powder that works best for snowblowers, so nobody has one. Naturally, we are now finishing up getting about 10" of dry powder at about 20 degrees. Normally we get wet snow that's extremely slippery plus it usually falls on top of freezing rain or sleet. This time everything was below 32 and dry when it started, so there's no real adhesion to anything. Its also going to be cold over the next three or four nights (32 or less) with daytime highs not much over freezing, so its going to be around for awhile. I'm thinking I can use my blower to clean off the cars, etc., but I know from experience and common sense that I'll get very wet if I try that.

Walt: You may be right may have to have the Finn's or Russians Bring some over with a Few Gallon's of Vodka . Vancouver has fickle weather at best , being so close to the coast moderate temps prevail lol .

Rusty: Saw a article last week where animal activist's were trying to prevent the Groundhog Show , stating it was inhumane having him all penned up all the camera exposure etc. lol . Heck the animal is getting better treatment then some humans .

CG: Next your going to be informing us that your breaking out your swim suit lol .

Sophie:
Wow , Sounds worse than what we have experienced , being North West of Superior we also get the Lake effect which can dump the White stuff even during extreme colder weather. Our saying is very similar to yours "Ifin you don't like the weather wait a few minutes it's going to change" ! lol.

P.S. You all have a Great Weekend ...Ty :)

RE: No Snow This Winter, repair Business Dead

All of the previous bragging or complaining about the weather has got us in a bind, here in Western Pennsylvania, and all the way to the right coast!
We finally got all of the snow they have been saving up for us! And, when they got us all filled up, they sent more on to Washington and points east and north. I've seen one car this morning. Our son left his place 2 hours ago, to come dig us out, but ain't here yet. He has a Chevy truck, lifted and big tires, but no sign of him. I'm not worried-there is no place to go-nothing is open. And, at 85+ YOA, there is no way i'm going out to shovel snow. COME ON SPRING!!

 o
RE: No Snow This Winter, repair Business Dead

Rusty: All clear and Moderate here today 25 F Sunshine , at least for a few days . You sit back and relax Springs just a few weeks away . Hope all is ok with your Son ! You have a Great Weekend , the Snow can wait :) .

RE: No Snow This Winter, repair Business Dead

The easter US (DC) is getting blasted with snow. Here in Toronto it's sunny clear and cold and not a snowflake in site. Bad very bad for business.

 o
RE: No Snow This Winter, repair Business Dead

Rolm : In a few weeks you will be Washing and Waxing your New Lawnmowers and Garden Tractor's lol .

 o
RE: No Snow This Winter, repair Business Dead

Not so, Ewalk:We just had another 3 inches on top of about 40 inches, last night! And, WM sez its going to get worse, before it gets better Our local kids will be attending school in July, to make up for "snow-days"!
If i had known this much snow was going to visit us, i'd of had snow-blowers lined up, for sale!
We live in the woodsy part of W. PA., and the trees are falling with frightening regularity! The flat roofed buildings are now flat altogether! Had a large domed Ice Palace roof drop from heavy snow loading! And a flat roofed one, too. Several porch roofs, and an alum awning fell on the owner trying to break off the 5 ft. long icicles.
Well, better go dig out my truck for the umpteenth time. Have to go out this afternoon.

RE: No Snow This Winter, repair Business Dead

I have 2 old Ariens snowblowers all gassed up, the oil levels are good. What little snow I've gotten since New Years hasnt been enough to blow. I am 30 miles south of Boston and 2 miles from the water.
