Lawnboy 10525 Self propel creeps BAD

| HI-
My lawnboy 10525 3spd, has had this problem since I bought it out of the classifieds last year.
If I run it with the belt cover off, I can see that the belt is always running. And never truly slacks around the crankshaft pulley. The propel cable is loose, and I can get the transmission to rest down on the steel belt guard that acts as its limit of travel as it hits the alloy deck (In other words the transmission cannot pivot any further to slacken the belt). I notice that it gets worse when the drive belt works its way to the outside of two small aluminum tabs that seem to serve as belt guards on the bottom of the engine. These tabs are not tall and are more like nubs than anything else. Am I missing an adjustment here some where?
Thanks In Advance! |

| I agree! So I bought a new belt, and put it on yesterday. It was the same size as the old one. I think I will try to go up one size on the belt, and see what that does. putting a belt on this machine takes too much time! |

| Is it possible that the pulley has slipped on the shaft or is inverted so the drive and driven pulleys don't line up? Lots of grass build up on the belt /pulley grooves can cause a creep also. |

| Ok- Mystery solved! After I took it apart, I realized that there is two possible places to mount the pulley on the crankshaft. After switching it to the lower position, everything seems to work great. I have a feeling thats why this machine was thrown away in the first place. I need to figure out now, why the bail chatters when I engage the self propel almost like the new belt or the pulley is out of round. |
