Does anyone know if the Honda GXV140 (135cc) (Type N2TA)(VIN# GJAB-6000001-7999999) has a compression release? The model year is unknown but I believe it to be 15 to 20 years old on a HRA215 SXA? self propelled mower. The only work done to it I know of is we lapped the valves. Compression test today showed 85 psi.

That small of an engine doesn't need one.

Yes, it has a compression release on the cam. It is a spring, which works centrifugally. If you look up the engine on a parts list you will see the spring assembly on the cam.
