i just got a briggs 5hp horizontal shaft motor model 130202. i tore it down because it was left out in the elements and it was seized when i got it. i got it all the way apart and mostly cleaned. i forgot to note which way the rod, piston rings and piston were in. does any body have any idea which way they are supposed to be
How about a service manual? SOunds like you may need all kinds of good info. Search for the model # and it is usually in the list. Good luck.Log in info: ID voed_schools Password briggs
There should be an X on the under side of the piston on the piston pin journal. The X will go toward the flywheel. One other clue is the rod cap alignment marks can be seen when the assembly is in correctly. Hope this helps.
