rotation of engine

I replaced the belts on my snowblower. And for some reason I decided to pull the starter cord, and I noticed the rotation of the second stage impeller is reverse of what is should be. I did not want to actually start it for fear of the unknown. It is possible when the engine actually runs, the rotation will somehow be correct? The belts are dead on correct and can only go one way.

I would think it is an optical illusion. . .

I do not think it is an illusion. The engine is not running so I can see the impeller rotation direction when pulling the cord. The impeller moves clockwise and downward away from the chute opening...shouldn't it rotate counterclockwise towards the chute opening to push the snow out the chute?

The large outside blades are AUGERS....they should rotate downwards and pull the snow into the second stage IMPELLER blades. The impellers throw the snow out the chute and should rotate towards the opening "throwing the snow out" using centrigual force like a pump would.
