mower for zoysia

I just installed zoysia lawn. I understand I need a reel mower. Brill & Sunlawn are not used for zoysia. Any suggestions?
We had this lawn up north but my husband used a gang mower. Here my lawn is small so I can used a push mower. What about Neuton?

RE: mower for zoysia

I've mowed Zoysia with a rotary mower for 35 years. It can be kinda tough to push a mower through though.

RE: mower for zoysia

Need a reel mower for zoysia? Nonsense. Like orangedotfever, I also used a rotary mower (Lawn Boy) on my zoysia lawn for many years, as did my neighbor on his. One person even used an electric rotary with no trouble. Just make sure you get a mower with an engine that's not a complete weakling.

You also need to pay a little more attention to keeping the blade sharp. Zoysia is tough.

RE: mower for zoysia

I have an Empire Zoysia lawn in N E Florida that I have always mowed with a rotary, works fine. Different Zoysia may require a reel mower but not Empire.

And what Orangedot said.
