Engine Swap

Has anyone swapped out the factory engine for something else? I have a Lawnboy with the Tecumseh LV195 engine and was wondering if the Suzuki 2 cycle they used on the Toros would work?

If you can make the blade hub/ blade /controls work then I would say go for it. Finally, a two stroke lawnboy I could get behind!

Pay particular attention to the
length of the shaft, below the deck.

Sometimes these Frankenstein transplants work, and sometimes they don't. I also like the Suzuki 2 stroke, but am less enamored with the Lawn Boy.

I did mount a Suzuki Promaster engine on a Snapper commercial successfully. Suzuki has a 25mm shaft, so that was OK. Also, shaft is 3-5/32 long from mounting surface. However, the bolt on Toro is 7/16-20, and most Briggs, Tecumeseh, etc. are 3/8-24. Means you have to enlarge the hole in the blade adapter and the blade to make it work.

Also, the majority of Toro/Suzuki's were BBC, and that won't work on Lawnboy or anyone else. The shaft is stepped for the BBC, and has an external thread.
