Sure you have the 917# correct? Sears doesn't list it.
Maybe a 917.270780?????

You have 3 safety switches.
Seat switch
Clutch/brake switch
Attachment switch.

Your symptom is more likely that of the seat switch.
Re check your 917#, so we can look at the proper schematic if available.

Sorry for wrong model #. Yhe correct one is 917270920 I'll pick up a seat switch tomorrow and give it a try. Thanks for your help

Don't buy parts just yet!!!!
Check the adjustment of the various switches to make sure they are being fully "activated".

Also, make sure the seat switch connecting plug is fully inserted.

This is one of the seat switch types that are normally closed and need to open to allow spark.
The connector has a "shorting tab". That means if you disconnect the plug, the "tab" completes the circuit and prevents spark.

Thanks for the help it appears to have been the seat switch. After fooling with it for a few minutes plugged it back in and the mower ran fine so far . It's over 10 years old and need constant attention. Lol. Thanks again Steve
