problems with craftsman lawn tractor

I have a 19.5 hp Craftsman mower. Briggs and Stratton engine model is 42E707. For some reason gas is not getting into the carb. Took the carb off and cleaned it, replaced the diaphragm kit but still no fuel. If you pour a little gas into the carb, it runs fine for the 10 seconds until the gas burns up. Diaphragm runs off the crankcase. Why isn't any fuel getting to the carb????? Fuel line isn't blocked. Gas flows through it just fine. I even rigged a spare gas tank up to the carb and held it up to see if gas would get to the carb. Still no luck

Is the pulse hose cracked or leaking?
If not, the float may be stuck closed.

Possibly a "tap" with a plastic handle screw driver might dislodge it.
There's also a chance you have a piece of "gunk" physically blocking the needle & seat assembly.
