Snapper on a slope problems

I had a 20 year old rear engine Snapper riding lawn mower that I cut a slope with sideways, as there is a fence at the bottom, with no problem.

My new rear engine riding mower series 23, 2812523BVE(7800104) is almost identical in construction to the old one just with a newer model Briggs and Stratton motor.

It stalls when I try to operate it on the same slope that the old one cut with no problems. Is there some kind of safety feature on this that I don't know about?

Any suggestions?

Thanks
