I have a model 445777 129 E9 B&S engine that blows fuses. I have replaced the alternator and stator (regulator) because it would not charge. I also replaced the starter because I had the flywheel off and it seemed wise while it was torn down. I also replaced the selinoid. Now when I turn the key the fuse blows. Soo, I disconnected everything to track the problem down. My first step was hooking the seinoid back up and the fuses blew. So, I'm trhinking - bad seinoid- changed it back to the old one, still blowing fuses? I've checked all the wires and can't see any damage to any of them anywhere on the tractor. How do I test a selinoid?. What would cause a selinoid failure. Did'nt have this problem before replacing all these parts. One more odd thing... I did have it running at one point and noticed that the one exhaust pipe was glowing red and smoking! of course I shut it down right away! What up with that.
