Help with broken spark plug wire on Toro 20684

I'm working on a Toro 20684 from around 1988 that I snagged from someone as a give-away. In the process of diagnosing it, I discovered that the part of the spark plug wire that attaches to the end of the plug (i.e. the part under the boot) is broken. The wire itself from the ignition seems to be fine.

Any suggestions on how to attach the wire to the end of the plug? A replacement part including the ignition module is $162 and that's a bit much for a 22 year old mower, aluminum deck or not.

Thanks for any ideas!

Most small engine shops carry either a screw on terminal or a crimp on type. The latter has a boot that slips over the terminal. A couple of bucks should get you back in business.

Thanks, canguy -- got the crimp on kind at the local mower shop, mashed it on with pliers, and the mower started on the first pull.
